I am a convert to the Christian faith, from atheism, in 1982. Quite simply - I met God in a London hotel room, who spoke to me: "John, you will come to nothing, abandoned by your wife and children, dying a lonely and old man." My life then turned upside-down. I abandoned the highly-paid IT consultancy rôle and retreated back to Scotland. Several moths later I met Christ at the Papal Mass at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow.
Since then I have been committed to the unity of the Church in Scotland, as lived, taught and believed from the earliest days of Ninian's ministry (fl AD398-432) as the first Apostle to the Southern Picts. I currently worship as part of the community at Ardbeg Church, Isle of Bute.
I had a long career as a Computer Scientist. Having graduated from the universities of Edinburgh, St Andrews and Glasgow. I taught at universities in Portugal, Japan and the United Kingdom. Ending my career as Visiting Professor in Virtual Reality at Gifu University in Japan.
